- Schema.org VLE Proposal:
Process Suggestions
Thoughts from Phil on a process to create course extension for schema/lrmi--involves these as interlinked & iterative actions:
- Define scope, essentially confirm whether online and face to face courses can be covered; try to limit it to discovery of courses (or course advertising, if you prefer) and not get involved in what people do when enrolled on a course.
- Define some concrete use cases (Joey wants to find MOOC to learn how to programme python, important criteria are:...)
- Find examples of course being advertised. Do they have the information that would allow the use cases to be met. If not mark usecase as "won't do".
- Find examples of frameworks for modelling course advertising information (current proposal being prime example)
- Cross map frameworks: note differences to current proposal and what these differences support (do they relate to use cases?), use this to inform iterations of proposal
- Can data from from example courses be used to populate proposed properties? Would it fulfil use cases as such? Can model be simplified and use cases still be met? (could even go as far as building demonstrator / reference search engine on copies of instances)
