DCMI FOAF Cooperation Task Group

About the Task Group

  • The DCMI FOAF Cooperation Task Group is a result of the May 2011 Agreement between DCMI and the FOAF Project.
  • Co-chairs are Tom Baker (DCMI) and Dan Brickley (FOAF Project).
  • Membership in the Task Group is open to all interested members of the public.

Tasks

The Task Group has the following tasks:

  • implement and monitor the specific agreements outlined in the DCMI FOAF Agreement. These include the following commitments:
    • The FOAF Project will grant DCMI administrative and technical access to the domain xmlns.com.
    • DCMI will monitor payment of domain name fees by the FOAF Project.
    • The FOAF Project will provide public notice of impending semantic changes in the FOAF vocabulary.
    • DCMI will mirror the FOAF Subversion project.
    • DCMI will monitor for outages in availability of the FOAF vocabulary and make a mirrored copy available if required.
    • If FOAF Project ceases activity, DCMI will maintain FOAF documentation.
  • consider the viability of the approach exemplified by this agreement as a model for similar arrangements with other vocabularies
  • propose the DCMI Generic Namespace Policy for RDF Vocabularies as a principled basis for such agreements, welcoming its extension or revision
  • identify candidate properties in the DCMI and FOAF vocabularies for explicit semantic alignment.
